We are looking for an ambitious Office and Procurement Administrator who is willing to help the company operate day to day so employees can perform to their highest ability.

In order to be successful in this position you should be detail-oriented, professional and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Office and Procurement Administrator Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate activities throughout the company to ensure efficiency and maintain compliance with company policy
  • Oversee the members of the Management team and coordinate their activities
  • Provide assistance with different budgeting and bookkeeping activities
  • Keep databases in check and update them regularly
  • Control the office and laboratory supplies state and make sure it is in accordance with office needs
  • Purchasing office supplies, equipment, and furniture.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of office facilities, and equipment
  • Monitor inventory stock, negotiate with Suppliers, prepare purchase order and resolve order problems
  • Create and present reports for senior managers
  • Coordinate and participate in office space planning, maintenance and renovations when necessary

Office and Procurement Administrator Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, administration, or a related field.
  • 2 or more years’ office administration experience.
  • Proficient in a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Comfortable handling confidential information.
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • This position requires fluent Finnish and English
  • Normal working hours in the Kaarina office are 8:00 – 16:00 pm, 5 days per week.

Senior Fermentation engineer / Scientist

We are looking for a full-time Senior Fermentation Engineer / Scientist to join our Technology organization in Kaarina, Finland.

MetGen is a biotechnology company designing and supplying industrial enzymes and biotech solutions. We serve multiple sectors including, but not limited to, paper, packaging, and renewable chemicals and materials. A common theme throughout these sectors is our mission to empower the industries to get more value out of natural resources.

Additionally to pioneering new technologies for more efficient and integrated biorefining towards sustainable chemicals and materials, MetGen is also an industrial enzyme producer. It is with this in mind, we are looking for a seasoned engineer or scientist who could join our team of professionals in developing the fermentation technologies from lab to larger scales and industrializing the new-to-the-world enzymes. In other words, to make audacious ideas work and have all sorts of engineering fun.

The main focus will be on optimizing fungal fermentations for maximal productivity and cost-efficiency. This will require a deep understanding of the fungal systems, but even more a capability for practical and market-oriented process development and optimization. The aim is to make the end-user satisfied with the technical performance and economics of the enzymatic products.

MetGen utilizes various bacterial and fungal strains. This work is mainly oriented in the scale-up and optimization of new fungal production strains.

Selected person will:

  • Provide technical leadership in process design and engineering at the pilot and industrial scale
  • Work together with cross-functional teams with the common objective to industrialize and commercialize the new enzymatic products and fermentation solutions
  • Drive the development of the technologies, pilot plant, and industrial production capabilities
  • Participate in the development of new technologies and related downstream processes such as on-site manufacturing
  • Provide analyzed and refined information to the stakeholders in the form of presentations, reports, and continuous communication.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Degree in biochemical engineering, microbiology, or a related discipline with 5+ years of experience in the industry or commercial company.
  • Expertise in all aspects of industrial enzyme manufacturing using fungal strains
  • In-depth understanding of process development, including concepts of modern biorefineries
  • Experience in genetics, bacterial strains, and working with manufacturing organizations is a bonus

Development Engineer / Scientist

 We are looking for a full-time Development Engineer / Scientist to join our Technology organization.

A common theme throughout these sectors is our mission to empower the industries to get more value out of natural resources.

Additionally to enzymes, we are also pioneering new technologies for more efficient and integrated biorefining towards sustainable chemicals and materials. It is with this in mind, we are looking for a seasoned engineer or material scientist who could join our team of professionals developing the new technologies from lab to larger scales and industrializing the new innovations. In other words, to make audacious ideas work and have all sorts of engineering fun.

The main focus will be on optimizing lignin refining and sugars-to-plastics processes. This will require a deep understanding of the enzymatic reactions, but even more a capability for practical and market-oriented process development and optimization. The aim is to make the end-user satisfied with the materials and chemistries produced by the enzyme-driven processes.

Selected person will:

  • Provide technical leadership in process design and engineering at the lab and pilot-scale
  • Work together with cross-functional teams with the common objective to industrialize and commercialize the new biotechnology solutions
  • Drive the development of the technologies and the pilot plant capabilities
  • Develop new technologies and related downstream processes such as enzymatic lignin modification
  • Provide analyzed and refined information to the stakeholders in the form of presentations, reports, and continuous communication

  • Degree in biochemical engineering, chemistry, material science, or a related discipline with 5+ years of experience in the industry or commercial company
  • In-depth understanding of process development, including concepts of modern biorefineries
